Continuing our recommendation series, we explore the best marijuana for parties. In social settings, we are looking for strains that would make us want to be social, could help spark conversation, and alleviate the nervousness that people can feel when in large groups.
Sativas are for socializing
If you have been reading our recent posts, this should come as no surprise. While the writer of this blog tends to favor indicas, there is no doubt that the effects of sativas are generally better in social settings. Indicas tend to make many users sleepy. When it comes to parties, you’re looking for a strain that doesn’t do that, while also avoiding cannabis that may make you anxious, paranoid, or overly “stoned.” Given this criteria, sativas are the way to go
Look for linalool
The terpene linalool has an aromatic scent and is often associated with the scent and color of the flower lavender. Lavender has been used for centuries for stress relief and has been demonstrated to reduce aggressive behavior while also increasing social behavior in a lab setting. It’d be a great idea to look for a cannabis strain with high linalool content. As a general rule, many of the purple tinted strains have high linalool content.
Know your limits and error on the side of caution
Everyone has that experience of going too overboard in social settings. Don’t try and match anyone, especially if you’re a novice user. If you find that you have over imbibed or are getting too paranoid or anxious, separate yourself for a bit. Follow our tips for greening out. Eat some food, and get hydrated. In no particular order and without further ado:
- Super Lemon Haze: leafly describes this strain as “uniquely energetic and lively.” We previously recommended this strain for creativity and we are going to suggest it again!
- Cherry Pie: a favorite amongst Agate Dreams’ customers and a great hybrid that combines sativa effects with the linalool rich GDP. A great party bud!
- Gorilla Glue: there is a reason this hybrid has so much hype! This hybrid destroys stress and will also giving you a gentle boost of energy. Perfect for a low-key social gathering.
- Blue Dream: this sativa-dominant hybrid is known for producing a “calm euphoria.” If you are sore from work it will also help relieve that so you can focus on hangin with your amigos!
- Grand Daddy Purple: So we recommend sativas and one of the strains is an indica? The high linalool and low occurrence of paranoia make this one an okay party treat. Consider pairing with coffee to ward off the sleepiness.
